High octane action in monster truck show

A RETURNING monster truck show is set to bring high-octane action and a unique stunt show performance to the Lismore showground.

It includes a wheel standing Jeep, comedy cars and a fireworks display scheduled for Saturday, March 8.

The show has been described as an extreme monster war on wheels and is run by Monster Truck Promotions Australia on the Sunshine Coast.

The group has not brought one of its show to the Northern Rivers since 2019 and has developed a strong reputation through its recent run of international events.

“We’re quite excited about coming back to the region,” team manager Clive Featherby said.

“The trucks do wheel stands off ramps and a number of things which the crowd will have never seen before.”

Featherby runs the Outback Thunda truck which has been rebuilt and taken to Abu Dhabi for shows in the United Arab Emirates.

It is one of two recently upgraded trucks on tour with the event focused on family entertainment.

“Where we differ from other shows is that we’re less competition and more of a fast-paced stunt show,” Featherby said.

“One of the trucks is the only three-seater in Australia and during the night we pick a few kids out of the crowd to do a lap around the showground, too.”

Organisers were hopeful they would not have to pump the breaks on the event due to the predicated forecast for heavy rain.

Ticket holders will be contacted directly by the team with an update on a potential date change.

Car racing fans will have another chance to return to showground on Saturday, March 15 with the Lismore speedway season ramping up.

The NSW Modified Sedans Title headlines the program and the support classes consist of V8 dirt modifieds, RSA sedans and junior sedans.
