THE NORTHERN NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD) is inviting applications from the community for the Byron Community Advisory Group (CAG).

The department seeks patients, carers, and community members from a diversity of backgrounds to share their knowledge and experiences and improve local health services.

Byron CAG Chair Jude Fanton said the group played an essential role in representing the community’s voice and helped to ensure services meet the needs and expectations of Byron residents.

“The CAG provides a vital link between the Local Health District and the community, offering insights, feedback, and suggestions on various topics, including patient care, hospital operations, mental health and community health,” Ms Fanton said.

“We meet every two months, and members hear about what’s happening in the health service, share ideas and experiences, raise concerns, and contribute to special projects.

“For example, this past year, there were presentations about the new Voluntary Assisted Dying legislation and its roll-out across NNSWLHD,” she said.

Community advisors receive an honorarium payment for out-of-pocket expenses, and applicants are subject to a police check.
