LISMORE City Council is calling for community representatives to join its Flood Risk Management Committee (FRMC).

Individual input will play a key role in advising and supporting the Council on managing flood risks according to the recently adopted Flood Risk Management Plan.

Representatives are being sought from First Nations communities, local businesses, environmental groups, North Lismore, South Lismore, and a non-geographically specific member.

Committee members contribute ideas, local knowledge, and potential solutions to help the Council manage risk more effectively. They also play a crucial role in bridging the gap between the Council and the broader community, providing input on various topics.

The FRMC meets four times a year or as scheduled by the chairperson. Meetings typically run for three hours on weekday afternoons.

The Council will select community representatives based on several criteria. These include connection to the community with demonstrated links to their geographic community or area of interest and awareness of flood risk management with an understanding of related issues.

Expressions of interest must be submitted online by 4.30 pm on February 16. See the Council website for details.
