Local Tweed family business expands after excellence award

July 15, 2024 BY

The Tweed local won a business excellence award.

LOCAL Tweed-based family business Ezi Office National has recently expanded its services after serving the community with office supplies for more than a decade.

The newly expanded operation now includes a printing service, a feature that owner Ajay Amin is excited to offer his customers.

Ezi Office National was recently recognised with two prestigious industry awards: being named Queensland Member of the Year by the national industry body Office Brands, and the retail award category at the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards.

Mr Amin believed the accolades testified to the team’s dedication to its customers and the community in their two Tweed and Gold Coast stores.

“We saw a gap in the market,” he said.

“I’m passionate about helping local businesses, and as a one-stop shop, they don’t need multiple suppliers. We go over and above.

“Most of our customers are time-poor local businesses. The effort we put into a personalised experience to make their lives easier sets us apart from our competitors.”

In one instance, a regular customer called at 4pm to order a hole punch delivered to his office. The $3 product would not usually qualify for delivery or for free, but Mr Amin understood the urgency.

The customer, who desperately needed the hole punch for a business tender presentation on a deadline, won the tender, and still regularly references the “$10,000-hole punch”.

Mr Amin said it was a rewarding experience and that knowing the business was a small part of that tender process felt good.

“This is the benefit of also being a local business. Big companies wouldn’t do that, and they don’t have our close customer relationships. No job is too small.”

The business, which started as a one-person operation and has grown into a team of 24, shares the community spirit of the Amin family. It provided school supplies through a Chinderah Fire Services stationery drive in the flood recovery and regularly donates school supply packs for disadvantaged students.

Amin participates in charity golf events supporting local community causes and is a member of Rotary and Tweed Chamber of Commerce.

“It’s important to support the community,” Mr Amin said. “We’re all in this together.”
