A NEW aged care and Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) community nursing service has recently opened its doors in Ballina.

Family First Care is extending its services to local veterans in the Lismore and Ballina area.

The family-run DVA partner provides in-home nursing and care support for the aged care and veteran community, with the motto of ‘serving them as they have served us’.

The organisation aims to be the driving force behind improving veteran care and to provide dignity in medical care and lifestyle management, assisting with broad tasks from personal care to wound management or personal companionship.

Family First Care nurses are specialists in personal care, developing tailored services for each individual’s needs, including nursing care, palliative care, and wellness and personal assistance.

Family First Care also offers respite to the carers of DVA clients, offering a crucial time out for dedicated carers and loved ones in what can often be a relentless and unforgiving role. Having a break while professional carers cover the caring responsibilities for a short while can be highly beneficial for all parties.

The Family First clinic is located at 3/48 Tamar Street. For more information, visit familyfirstcare.com.au
