SOLACE Muay Thai will host its first professional fight night at the Ballina RSL Club.

The event will be held on Saturday, December 6 with an amateur series to run earlier in the day.

Coby Waldock and Corey-Sia Townes will represent the Ballina Muay Thai gym on the main card.

The milestone marks years of work by Solace Muay Thai coach and owner Spiro Darzanos.

He has been working to bring professional fight cards to the region for several years.

“This will be a proper professional fight night with a bit of extra glitz and glamour,” he said.

“It’s been a lot of hard work to get to this point; we wouldn’t be here without our sponsors.”

“The council have been really supportive and people supporting the event financially have come to our amateur shows and have seen what we’re all about.”

Fighters will compete in full contact with stand-up striking, sweeps and various clinching techniques.

Darzanos has trained more than 100 fighters at his gym since 2019 and looks forward to hosting five professional bouts at a home event.

“The boys have been training hard for this one and they’re ready to go,” he said.

“Some of these guys have fought overseas and Corey will get to take on a star fighter from Thailand.”

A female professional fight over five rounds between Jane Koo and Kalia Zylstra will also feature on the card.

The amateur show starts at 2pm with professional fights from 6pm.
