A LEGO expo is coming to the Ballina RSL in January with 80 tables of custom-built displays, rare sets, play tables, dioramas, and custom mosaics.

The custom displays will showcase creations built by Lego Masters, including trains, a massive theme park, an airport, and a Harry Potter set.

Build tables will give the public the chance to create their own masterpiece, or write their name in Lego on a wall.

Lego was invented in 1932 when they were first made of wood, before the change to plastic in the late 1940s. Lego now sells 220 million sets a year and is the world’s largest toy manufacturer by sales.

Sets of the iconic plastic brick regularly feature on the list of top Christmas gifts, with Lego City, Icons, Technic, Star Wars, and Harry Potter sets amongst the most popular in 2024.

Newer sets, such as the retro radio, Van Gogh painting, and flowers have also crept onto the most popular list for the year, demonstrating Lego’s ability to create a range for all tastes.

Ballina Brick Event Lego fan expo is on at Ballina RSL on January 11 and 12, from 9am -3pm. Entry is $16.

The event will donate some of the profits to Childhood Cancer Support.
