Tweed problem waste accepted again
AFTER the recent suspension of services, Tweed residents can now resume taking limited problematic waste to their usual recycling facility.
A large fire at the Sydney recycling centre used by several Northern Rivers councils had caused processing delays for several weeks.
Waste will be accepted at Tweed’s Stotts Creek Resource Recycling Centre, including problem items such as paints, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, household oils and e-waste.
It also accepts general solid waste, construction and demolition waste, asbestos, a range of recyclable items, and limited problem waste.
Asbestos is not accepted on weekends or after 2.30pm on weekdays.
Fluorescent globes and tubes, household batteries, laptop (lithium) batteries, cordless batteries, and chemicals including flammables, herbicides, oxidisers, and acid, are not accepted.
The Council requests that residents store these items safely.
The community will be informed when the processing facility is operating at its usual capacity.
