THE MULLUMBIMBY Ex-Services Club is inviting members, veterans, ex-serving Defence Force members, and the broader community to participate in Vietnam Veterans’ Day this Sunday, August 18, at 11am.

Proceedings begin with a memorial service at the Mullumbimby Cenotaph and will be followed by a lunch at the club where writer and bush poet Ray Essery will be the guest speaker.

RSL Sub-Branch secretary Stephen Williams said the club was encouraging residents to attend the memorial and support Vietnam veterans and their families.

“We would like to inform the community about our plans for Vietnam Veterans’ Day and the other activities we are holding,” Mr Williams said.

“We have a weekly coffee catch-up for veterans and their families at the Ex-Services Club on Saturday mornings from 10am.

“We’re also in the process of training new advocacy staff to assist local veterans with various supports.”

The set lunch of $25 includes canapés, drinks and lunch, and bookings are required.
