Vintage glory and glamour at the Murbah Rumble
MURWILLUMBAH came alive with classic engines, live music and raucous rockabilly energy on the weekend with the three-day Murbah Rumble taking over the town.
Filling streets and venues with vintage cars, music and a passionate community of devotees, co-organiser Drue Hutchy said the event’s second year success showed it was growing fast.

“We started as a small get-together of locals and classic car lovers and it has quickly turned into something the whole town looks forward to each year,” Hutchy said.
“We had steady numbers across the weekend and the atmosphere was fantastic — great cars, great people and plenty of support from the community.

“Next year, we’d love to see even more local cars out and about, showcasing the very best Murwillumbah and the surrounding areas have to offer.”
Hutchy, and fellow organisers Pete Adaway and Rod Brewer, agreed that of the many highlights, two were particularly memorable.

“The Pete Paynter Memorial Mystery Lunch Run was definitely a standout,” he said.
“And you couldn’t go past the Chev Wilson Band and the Line Lockers who absolutely blew the roof off the Impy on Friday and Saturday nights.”

Enthusiasts came from across the region, southeast Queensland and interstate, and Hutchy said the vintage and rockabilly crowd was one big family. His own beloved flamed and chopped Mercury custom featured throughout the weekend.

“It always turns heads but for me, it’s not about showing off, it’s about keeping that old-school spirit alive and sharing a bit of what makes this culture so special,” he said.

“The Rumble has become more than just a weekend, it’s a celebration of cars, bikes, music and community spirit that keeps growing stronger.
“We want to send a huge thank you to Kian and Joe from the Impy for their ongoing support and hospitality, and to Mark from the Brothers Leagues Club for helping make this year’s Rumble such a success.

“Events like this only happen when good people and great venues get behind them.”
