THE Media Hub Short Film Festival is bringing an evening of storytelling, creativity, and community to the Starcourt Theatre on July 3.

Presented by headspace Lismore, the event celebrating young creators will showcase powerful, original short films created by young people involved in the Media Hub program.

Senior manager for headspace Simone Balzer said it was important to profile the talent and hard work of the region’s young people.

“This event showcases the work of local young people and celebrates the diversity of their talents and the connections they have made through the creative process,” Balzer said.

“The short film festival is a great example of young people being at the centre of what we do.”

Headspace offers a range of opportunities for young people to learn new skills and showcase those skills in a supportive environment while connecting with others.

Young people can engage in a variety of programs, including the media hub, Hype Girls Club, LGBTIQSB+ groups, and the Young People’s Advisory Committee.

The Lismore media hub was established in its current form in 2023.

“Headspace empowers young people, promotes their skills, and involves them in decision making about things that matter to them,” Balzer said.

“The media hub is one of those avenues. It’s really about young people connecting with each other.”

Hosted by MCs Gracie B & MJ, the free, 18+ event is alcohol and drug-free.

Light refreshments will be provided, and pre-registration with the QR code is preferred.
