A FUTURE star with dreams of representing Australia at the Olympics has taken the next step in her rugby union journey after being selected in the NSW Rugby Schools under-16 team.
Chloe Sivewright competed with the NSW team in the Australian Schools and Juniors Rugby Union Championships on the Sunshine Coast this week.
The Lismore City rugby union club and Richmond River High School student was one of the only girls selected from outside Newcastle and Sydney.
The 16-year-old only started playing four years ago and has quickly made a name for herself at representative level.
“I was a little shocked, but it was great news that I was going to be part of this team,” Chloe said.
“I love my rugby, you just have to get in there and have a go. It’s more about rugby league around here, so I’ve really had to commit to it.
“The best thing is to meet and play against other opposition. I really want to play for Australia in the Olympics one day.”

Chloe has the speed and game awareness to excel as a fullback and also has the vision and ball skills which allows her to play halfback.
Coaches on the Far North Coast have been impressed with her performances which eventually saw her join the the NSW Waratahs Youth Girls Academy Program earlier this year.
She was picked in a merit side and named player of the tournament after her matches at under-16 level.
Next year she will move into the under-18 division and will be confident having already played against Queensland and other top teams from around the country.
“This program is about more than just playing rugby, it’s about creating a pathway for young players to develop, thrive, and take their game to the next level,” NSW Rugby Union CEO Peter Murphy said.
“We’re proud to continue growing this initiative and giving young athletes from across NSW the opportunity to thrive both on and off the field.”
