MAJOR AUSTRALIAN MEDAL HOPES<\/p>\n

While golden girl Jessica Fox has bowed out, little sister Noemie looks like she could continued the medal parade in the family in the kayak cross.<\/p>\n

Two-time medallist Melissa Wu will make Australian Olympic history when she dives for her country for the fifth time at a Games, lining up in the 10m platform.<\/p>\n

Luke Willian, Natalie van Coevorden, Matt Hauser and Sophie Linn are an outside chance of sneaking a triathlon mixed relay medal.<\/p>\n

OTHER AUSTRALIANS IN ACTION<\/p>\n

The Hockeyroos medal hopes go on the line when they take on China in a quarter-final.<\/p>\n

The apparatus finals continue in the gymnastics with the women on the beam and floor and the men featuring in the parallel bars and horizontal bars.<\/p>\n

How the Aussies fared on Day 9<\/strong><\/p>\n

SILVER<\/p>\n

Nicola Olyslagers – (athletics – women’s high jump) – Olyslagers pushed hard for the gold with a gutsy final clearance at 2m only to come up just short against Ukrainian world record holder Yaroslava Mahuchikh.<\/p>\n

Meg Harris – (swimming – women’s 50m freestyle) – A popular medal for one of the unheralded members of the star-studded Dolphins squad.<\/p>\n

Kaylee McKeown, Emma McKeon, Mollie O’Callaghan and Jenna Strauch – (swimming – women’s 4x100m medley relay) – Australia signed off a hugely successful swimming campaign in style with yet another medley medal.<\/p>\n

BRONZE<\/p>\n

Eleanor Patterson – (athletics – women’s high jump) – Patterson added a first Olympic medal to her gold and silver from the past two world championships.<\/p>\n

OTHER HEADLINE GOLD MEDALLISTS<\/p>\n

Novak Djokovic beat Carlos Alcaraz 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-2) in the men’s singles final to add Olympic gold to his record haul of grand slam titles.<\/p>\n

World No.1 Scottie Scheffler shot an extraordinary final round of nine-under 62 to win the Olympic men’s gold gold.<\/p>\n

US cyclist Kristin Faulkner, AKA Fox, outsmarted her rivals to win the women’s road race.<\/p>\n

Reece Holder moved to second on the Australian alltime list with a cracking run of 44.53 seconds in the opening round of the men’s 400m on his Olympic debut.<\/p>\n

Caitlin Parker will win Australia’s first Olympic women’s boxing medal after downing world champ Khadija Mardi from Morocco in the 75kg quarter-finals.<\/p>\n

Australia’s best beach volleyball pairing, Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho del Solar, are only two matches away from the gold-medal match after downing Brazil 24-22 21-14.<\/p>\n
