{"id":101763,"date":"2024-09-17T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-16T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballinatimes\/?p=101763"},"modified":"2024-09-11T22:07:32","modified_gmt":"2024-09-11T12:07:32","slug":"get-on-your-bike-for-free-workshops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballinatimes\/news\/get-on-your-bike-for-free-workshops\/","title":{"rendered":"Get on your bike for free workshops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BALLINA Shire Council is running two free bike safety workshops during the school holidays.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will have the chance to get their bike checked over by experts, receive basic bike maintenance tips and advice and learn how to ensure their helmet is fitted properly.<\/p>\n<p>No repairs will be completed on the day and no parts will be supplied.<\/p>\n<p>Other topics to be covered include laws and etiquette for riding on roads, shared paths and rail trails, E-bike rules and safety for riding\u00a0with children.<\/p>\n<p>Each session is limited to 30 individual places.<\/p>\n<p>Participants are asked to bring their own bike, and prepare questions\u00a0to ask.<\/p>\n<p>Ballina has become an increasingly popular destination for cycling in recent years, with an extensive network of bike paths along the river and coast all the way to Lennox Head.<\/p>\n<p>Kidsafe NSW advises all riders of bicycles are required by law to wear a Standards Australia-approved helmet.<\/p>\n<p>Young children should only ride their bikes on footpaths or shared paths.<\/p>\n<p>The two-hour workshops will be held at Lennox Head Cultural Centre on October 2 at 9.30am and in the Richmond Room at Ballina on October 9 at 9.30am.<\/p>\n<p>For more information and to register, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/ballina.nsw.gov.au\/news\/free-bike-safety-and-maintenance-workshops--1101\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ballina.nsw.gov.au\/news\/free-bike-safety-and-maintenance-workshops&#8211;1101<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BALLINA Shire Council is running two free bike safety workshops during the school holidays.
