{"id":102047,"date":"2024-09-28T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-27T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballinatimes\/?p=102047"},"modified":"2024-09-25T19:38:05","modified_gmt":"2024-09-25T09:38:05","slug":"byron-bay-pickleball-club-gets-over-the-line","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballinatimes\/sport\/byron-bay-pickleball-club-gets-over-the-line\/","title":{"rendered":"Byron Bay Pickleball Club gets over the line"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AFTER commuting to Alstonville and Ballina to play her beloved sport for more than a year, Joanne Henderson is thrilled that Byron Bay Pickleball Club has become an official entity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We just got an ABN and now we&#8217;re in the process of transferring membership, which will include insurance and discounts off different products and access to the Australian Pickleball Association,&#8221; Henderson said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We just needed a closer club, so we got together some players from the community and started talking about it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We started to play socially in June and had an open day in July.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There were casual indoor games but that was mostly during the week for retirees.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We wanted something for all ages who could play after work and on Saturday morning.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The group now has 180 people in its WhatsApp chat group.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2024\/09\/ByronBayPickleballCl_64940.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"495\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Byron Bay Pickleball Club members.
