FINK (Fin Greenall), the UK artist known for his soulful blend of indie, folk, and blues, is returning to Australia for the first time in a decade.<\/p>\n

As part of his world tour, he will perform at the Brunswick Picture House on November 27.<\/p>\n

The soulful indie, folk, and blues blend from the former DJ and electronica musician is a raw and intimate treat. The Cornish-born singer\/songwriter is based in Berlin, and his eighth studio album, Beauty in Your Wake (2024), was recorded in a church in Cornwall.<\/p>\n

Greenall’s film and television credits include The Walking Dead, Better Call Saul, Suits, Collateral Beauty, 12 Years a Slave and the epic Selma.<\/p>\n

The artist grew up in 1980s Bristol during its famous cultural explosion.<\/p>\n

“It was an epic place to grow up,” he said.<\/p>\n

“The Rare Groove revival, the outdoor rave scene, pirate radio – you’d see Massive Attack driving around, you’d see Tricky in the clubs, you’d have your mind blown by a DJ playing ‘LFO’ one moment then by seeing Horace Andy.<\/p>\n

“We were so proud to be from this place with its own thing”.<\/p>\n

During the 1990s in London, he worked major label publicity jobs by day; by night, he worked as a DJ and went clubbing.<\/p>\n

“I just automatically got drawn to what they were doing,” he said.<\/p>\n

“They were the ones (Ninja Tune) advancing what it could be: not just two decks but three, four, with multiple DJs at once, VJs, projections, and art, with international gigs in Rome, Budapest, Paris, Montreal and Berlin and residencies at the Blue Note club in Hoxton. It was incredibly exciting.”<\/p>\n

His transition to being a singer\/songwriter led to producing up and coming singers, including a then unknown, teenaged Amy Winehouse. Rediscovering his father’s records and deepening his love of acts like John Martyn, Greenall discovered the filter-less honesty in music that he had been seeking.<\/p>\n

Last year, Greenall signed a Sony Music publishing deal in Germany after 30 years as an independent artist. The first release is Beauty in Your Wake, co-produced and recorded by Grammy-winning Sam Okell, and is supported by a tour that “will probably never end,” the artist said.<\/p>\n
