The atmosphere at All Saints Anglican Church was resplendent last Sunday with the Murwillumbah Philharmonic Choir’s Glory of Song concert.<\/p>\n
The vast repertoire featured John Rutter’s Magnificat, highlighting soloists Barbara Crellin, Debbie Teitzel, and Mary Wiseman.<\/p>\n
MPC Vice president Malcolm Reid said the event had gone exceptionally well.<\/p>\n
“There was a great vibe in the large audience, and the program was very well received.<\/p>\n
For the Beauty of the Earth and Soldier Boy by Rutter were also on the program. In addition, the choir sang The Christmas Card by Deborah Cheetham Fraillon, J S Bach’s Chorale and Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep by Chris Saranec.<\/p>\n
Along with some spiritual and folk works, more contemporary songs included Arthur Hamilton’s classic Cry Me a River, made famous by Ella Fitzgerald, We Never Really Say Goodbye by Captain and Tenille, and Neil Diamond’s anthemic Sweet Caroline.<\/p>\n
Audience members joined the choir in renditions of Christmas carols as a finale.<\/p>\n
The MPC has been delighting audiences for 101 years. The next performance for the choir will be at Carols in the Park at Murwillumbah’s Knox Park on December 13, at 6 pm, and Carols at the Tweed Regional Gallery on December 15, at 11.15 am.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
