The upgrade is the first step in a series for Chick Park, with carpark resealing due to take place in mid-2025.<\/p>\n<p>The upgrade aims to improve the overall functionality and durability of the car park and enhance the car park&#8217;s visual appeal. It will also enhance the car park&#8217;s resilience to future weather events and improve accessibility for all visitors.<\/p>\n<p>Tweed Council&#8217;s Waterways Project Officer Matthew Bloor said the upgrade would allow Tweed residents and visitors to connect with nature while minimising impacts on the natural environment.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_107456\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-107456\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-107456\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/02\/Screenshot2025-01-28_99454_tn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"307\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-107456\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The new canoe launch will bring joy and improved facilities for paddlers. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Stotts Island is the largest remnant of subtropical floodplain rainforest remaining in New South Wales,&#8221; Bloor said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Though landing on Stotts Island is not permitted, we&#8217;re thrilled to offer the community the chance to appreciate its beauty from the water.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The two projects are jointly funded by the Australian and NSW Governments, including a Boating Now grant from Transport for NSW.<\/p>\n<p>Construction on the new launch will begin this month and is expected to take three months.
