“It’s been such a huge part of our development as both music fans and musicians.<\/p>\n
“It’s still an absolute joy and honour every time we play there. We travel the world playing but it’s great being able to play to a home crowd with world class production.”<\/p>\n
The Lismore-based duo, who were named winners of the Gold Coast Music Awards’ Live Act of the Year in 2024, was in France when they heard the announcement that this year’s Bluesfest would be the last.<\/p>\n
“It turned my stomach and made me feel very sad,” Parker said.<\/p>\n
“It’s an institution. It’s by far the most important festival in this area and has provided huge access to world class artists.<\/p>\n
“It would be amazing if everything went well and the support was there and they were able to keep going.”<\/p>\n
Hussy Hicks is playing at Bluesfest at 6pm on Saturday and 2.30pm on Sunday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
