{"id":106400,"date":"2025-04-25T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-24T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballinatimes\/?p=106400"},"modified":"2025-04-24T11:34:37","modified_gmt":"2025-04-24T01:34:37","slug":"school-leaderslearn-about-futurein-online-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballinatimes\/news\/school-leaderslearn-about-futurein-online-business\/","title":{"rendered":"School leaders learn about future in online business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SCHOOL leaders from across the region have learnt valuable lessons on how online business can shape future employment opportunities locally.<\/p>\n<p>It was part of the annual School Leaders event, which is hosted during the Easter school holidays by Page MP Kevin Hogan.<\/p>\n<p>About 300 students and parents attended this year&#8217;s event at the Lismore Workers Club with TripADeal co-founder Norm Black the guest speaker.<\/p>\n<p>Black started the online travel agency in 2011, with the business enjoying huge success at its Byron Bay base.<\/p>\n<p>After two years as a majority stakeholder, Qantas acquired 100 per cent of the business in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Norm&#8217;s journey from humble beginnings to co-founder of TripADeal is a great story of perseverance and vision. It was wonderful to hear his powerful speech,&#8221; Hogan said.<\/p>\n<p>One of his key messages was that students did not have to relocate to a city to find success in their field.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/04\/491401243_1306381380_61869.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">TripADeal co-founder Norm Black and Page MP Kevin Hogan with some of the sport achievers from around the region. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The event attracted participants from student representative councils, sport achievers and captains from primary and high schools.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is always an inspiring event to witness the passion and dedication of our young leaders,&#8221; Hogan said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These students play an important role in the life of their school community and it&#8217;s important to recognise them and thank them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hogan also recognised the next crop of youngsters in his Local Sporting Champions program.<\/p>\n<p>The Local Sporting Champions program provides financial assistance for competitors aged 12-18 participating in state, national or international championships.<\/p>\n<p>Eighteen young people competing in athletics, cricket, futsal, swimming and water polo received $550 to put towards the cost of their sport.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SCHOOL leaders from across the region have learnt valuable lessons on how online business can shape future employment opportunities locally.
