{"id":106722,"date":"2025-05-10T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-09T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballinatimes\/?p=106722"},"modified":"2025-05-07T17:45:26","modified_gmt":"2025-05-07T07:45:26","slug":"alice-nights-wild-ivy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballinatimes\/living\/alice-nights-wild-ivy\/","title":{"rendered":"Alice Night&#8217;s wild ivy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FOLK artist Alice Night is launching her latest album, Wild Ivy, in an intimate reveal at the Citadel on May 24.<\/p>\n<p>Known for her conversational and vivid performance style, the new record is haunting and nostalgic for a sense of place and people.<\/p>\n<p>Night has released five collections of original music and published a collection of poetry, Molten.<\/p>\n<p>The founder and creative director of Alice Night School of Arts is also an experienced creative arts facilitator, creating online courses and in-person retreats, The Writing Well, Riversong, and her year-long creative mentorship program, ART MATTERS.<\/p>\n<p>Night is devoted to health, expression, and culture-making. Having grown up around addiction and transgenerational trauma, her compositions have been described as dark and hopeful lullabies for our times.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I began writing songs as a 15-year-old quite accidentally,&#8221; Night said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Until then, I had been obsessed with visual arts and large painting work.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Songwriting was an intuitive process then and has continued to be.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The first song I wrote was called Gamble to Give and was a reinterpretation of the gambling industry, turning it on its head.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The line in the song &#8216;What are you gonna do with your power?&#8217; is a question I am answering with my life.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The part of me that writes songs is often wiser than me.
