GREG Alexander believes that Parramatta’s win against Manly will give them plenty of confidence for the remainder of the NRL season.<\/p>\n
The Eels have taken themselves off the bottom of the ladder with a 30-10 victory over the Manly Sea Eagles at CommBank Stadium.<\/p>\n
This is the first time this season that they have won back-to-back games showing signs that coach Jason Ryles’ plan is working.<\/p>\n
The result is even more impressive considering that the Eels were without stars Mitch Moses and Zac Lomax who were in Origin camp.<\/p>\n
Speaking on SEN’s Saturday League Kick-Off, Alexander was quite impressed with the Eels’ performance.<\/p>\n
“Jason Ryles had to hold his nerve over the first month of the premiership and there must have been a lot of thinking about it,” Alexander said.<\/p>\n
“But they were playing without Mitch Moses too. So, to put that performance in last night without Mitch and without Zac Lomax, I think will do wonders for their confidence.<\/p>\n
“When you’re looking at the game last night wondering how they go without Mitch and Zac who are both very good against Newcastle in their win last week.<\/p>\n
“I thought there had been enough improvement in the side, all around those two key players to have you believe that the Eels were a good chance against Manly last night.<\/p>\n
“Even though Manly only had basically DCE out of the side because of Origin.<\/p>\n
“So, I thought it was a really strong win and they lost Will Penisini in the first minute and a half, and it’s never easy when you lose an outside back.<\/p>\n
“Joash Papalii came on the field and played well in his debut. Scored a try on debut.<\/p>\n
“So, in all Satts, I think Jason Ryles, listening to him last night, they are making good steps and that was a big step last night to do it without those two players.”<\/p>\n
Parramatta will look to make it three wins in a row when they take on the Penrith Panthers at CommBank Stadium this Sunday.<\/p>\n
Both teams will have players backing up from the first game in the State of Origin series at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n
Lomax and Moses have only played together at NRL level once this season while Penrith’s title defence in jeopardy with the Panthers on the bottom of the ladder.<\/p>\n
