{"id":107665,"date":"2025-06-15T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-14T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballinatimes\/?p=107665"},"modified":"2025-06-11T21:09:24","modified_gmt":"2025-06-11T11:09:24","slug":"new-exhibitions-and-the-archibald-in-lismore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballinatimes\/living\/new-exhibitions-and-the-archibald-in-lismore\/","title":{"rendered":"New exhibitions and the Archibald in Lismore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THREE new exhibitions are opening at the Lismore Regional Gallery in the coming weeks, with a double opening event on Friday, June 27.<\/p>\n<p>The twin opening features Jacklyn Wagner&#8217;s Through the Heart and Dream Vibrations from Peter Faulkner.<\/p>\n<p>Wagner is an award-winning photojournalist, and her new exhibition showcases photographs of survivors and the aftermath of the 2022 floods.<\/p>\n<p>Comprising 100 images, Through the Heart tenderly portrays the resilience of Lismore residents as they started to reconnect with their homes, neighbours and community.<\/p>\n<p>Director of the Lismore Regional Gallery, Ashleigh Ralph, said Wagner&#8217;s work stood out for its powerful ability to capture fleeting yet significant moments in time.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She transforms individual memories into universal reflections, prompting viewers to pause and connect emotionally with the stories behind each image,&#8221; Ralph said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_112687\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-112687\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-112687\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/06\/Judgement-Day_Peter-_17772.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-112687\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Peter Faulkner, &#8216;Judgement Day 2024&#8217;. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Peter Faulkner is a Bundjalung man and visual storyteller who shares his ancestry, history, and stories of his people in large, colourful compositions across a range of media, including printmaking, painting, sculpture, and more recently, AI.<\/p>\n<p>Faulkner won the Binns Artist Studio Residency and was selected for his graduate work at the TAFE Visual Arts Graduate Exhibition in December 2024.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He will be in the studio until the start of his exhibition, and we look forward to witnessing this exhibition come together in the artist&#8217;s studio,&#8221; Ralph said.<\/p>\n<p>Faulkner said signs of Country talking were all around us.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Country speaks through signs from Nature; the patterns that emerge inform us of what&#8217;s coming,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_112688\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-112688\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-112688\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2025\/06\/Matt-Adnate-main_17845.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-112688\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Winner of the Archibald Packing Room Prize 2024, Matt Adnate &#8216;Rhythms of Heritage&#8217;, spray paint and synthetic polymer paint on linen.
