INDIE rock band Eliza and the Delusionals will headline the Folded Music Festival at Ballina Skatepark on Saturday, September 20.<\/p>\n
The band formed at Pottsville in 2017 and includes singer and guitarist Eliza Klatt with Kurt Skuse on guitar and Ruby Lee playing bass.<\/p>\n
They have already received a triple j Album of the Year nomination, a Rolling Stone Australia Award nomination and a Queensland Music Award.<\/p>\n
Their second album Make It Feel Like the Garden debuted at No.11 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart and they have previously played a sold-out Australian tour and through the United States with acts like The Front Bottoms.<\/p>\n
The event will include some of the best school-aged bands in the region.<\/p>\n
Mental health charity The Healthy Minds Club founded the festival after seeing a gap in the local arts and music scene.<\/p>\n
“We are proud to help foster the wealth of musical talent among the young people in our area,” event organiser Jackson Connellan said.<\/p>\n
“We understand the importance of creative outlets for wellness, so we’re keen to put on a great day of music and give the kids a chance to feel like rock stars.”<\/p>\n
Each school band will compete for the top prize \u2013 a professional recording session at a local music studio, including mixing and mastering.<\/p>\n
It will give the group the opportunity to release their first single, as winning Byron Bay band The Maggots did after last year’s event.<\/p>\n
The best performance on the day will be selected by an independent board.<\/p>\n
The Rotary Club of Ballina-on-Richmond will put on a free barbecue and soft drinks at the event, which runs from noon until 6pm, with the skating bowl open for use.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
