THIRTY-THREE groups and individuals have been nominated in the 2025 Tweed Sustainability Awards, with locals invited to help decide the People’s Choice winner.<\/p>\n
Launched in 2019 and held every two years, the awards recognise businesses, schools, farmers and community groups leading environmental initiatives across the shire.<\/p>\n
Mayor Chris Cherry said the nominees reflected the community’s creativity and commitment to protecting the environment.<\/p>\n
“I’m truly impressed by the creativity and impact demonstrated by this year’s nominees,” Cherry said.<\/p>\n
“The quality of nominees reflects diverse sustainability efforts in education, conservation, business innovation and community projects.<\/p>\n
“I particularly enjoy how the nominees have harnessed their passion and dedication to deliver meaningful projects that have a real and lasting impact on the environment.”<\/p>\n
Projects include school composting programs, backyard wildlife habitats, renewable energy initiatives, eco-tourism ventures and sustainable farming practices.<\/p>\n
Voting is open until midnight on September 14, with one vote allowed per person. The People’s Choice winner will be announced alongside the judged categories at the October ceremony.<\/p>\n
