THE Burns Point Ferry will be closed for around four weeks from Saturday, October 18, for annual maintenance and safety upgrades.<\/p>\n

The crossing will close to customers from 12.30am that day, with road users advised to use the Pacific Highway and River Drive at Wardell as alternate routes.<\/p>\n

Ballina Shire Council said the works will include structural, mechanical and electrical repairs, as well as major safety upgrades and a fresh coat of paint for the vessel’s hull.<\/p>\n

The ferry’s return to service will depend on weather conditions and progress through the maintenance program.<\/p>\n

Council said any delays would be announced through local media, social media, and on its website.<\/p>\n

Routine monthly maintenance is also scheduled for Tuesday, December 9, from 9am to 1pm.<\/p>\n
