RISING rugby star Chloe Sivewright will have the chance to rub shoulders with the best junior talent in the country and overseas after making the Australian Schoolgirls sevens team.<\/p>\n

She will head to Auckland, New Zealand to play in the Global Youth sevens tournament between December 19-21.<\/p>\n

It was established in 2016, with some of the world’s best youth sevens showcasing their skills and talent on a global stage.<\/p>\n

The 17-year-old attends Richmond River High School and plays for the Lismore Rugby Club.<\/p>\n

Chloe enjoyed a breakout year where she was dominant in the Far North Coast women’s competition.<\/p>\n

She made the NSW under-18s schoolgirls team which launched her into national selection.<\/p>\n

The tenacious fullback is one of the only players in the team who hasn’t been been part of a boarding or private school system.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“It’s a great opportunity for someone from this area and something I’m really looking forward to,” Chloe said.<\/p>\n

“I was hoping it might happen, but you never know, this will be the furthest I’ve been for rugby.<\/p>\n

“I already know a couple of the girls going and I just want to learn as much as I can and make the most of it.”<\/p>\n

The schoolgirls team will play alongside the Australian under-18 team which has players from the Wallaroos system.<\/p>\n

Chloe turned heads locally this season with her performances in the Far North Coast competition.<\/p>\n

She was named best and fairest and was also the highest point scorer and top try scorer in the women’s 10 competition.<\/p>\n

She was also player of the match in a losing grand final effort against Ballina<\/p>\n

Her efforts have carried over to the representative level where she continues to impress national selectors and coaches.<\/p>\n

NSW Rugby development officer Will Campbell is based on the Far North Coast and has overseen her development.<\/p>\n

“To get someone in this side from outside the GPS and rugby schools in Queensland is huge and Chloe really deserves it,” he said.<\/p>\n

“She’s been very impressive this year, travelling around the country for tournaments and putting extra work in.<\/p>\n

“She is an exceptional talent, she never skips a training session and can create something out of nothing on the field.”<\/p>\n
