BALLINA Buslines is spreading festive cheer with a special Christmas lights tour around the region with funds raised going towards the Salvation Army.<\/p>\n
The Christmas lights tour offers a fun, family-friendly way to celebrate the season while giving back to the community.<\/p>\n
The first one will leave from the Lismore Square Shopping Centre on Monday, December 22 at 8pm and 9pm.<\/p>\n
Buses will run from Tamar Street at Ballina the following night at the same time with a gold coin donation encouraged.<\/p>\n
The event, which was held last year, allows locals to see the region\u2019s best-decorated homes and Christmas displays while supporting a good cause.<\/p>\n
As part of the initiative, Transport for NSW is decorating buses and running several Christmas fundraising activities across the state.<\/p>\n
The program has partnered with Wesley Mission, which provides foster care, disability support, retirement living, and home care.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery day we see how compassionate support brightens the lives of those we serve, most especially children,\u201d Wesley Mission chief executive Reverend Stu Cameron said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese festive buses lift spirits, spark joy and remind us of the power of connection at this special time of year.\u201d<\/p>\n
Locally raised funds will help provide shelter for people experiencing homelessness, gifts for children who might otherwise go without, and hampers for families struggling to afford basic meals.<\/p>\n
