TWEED Shire Council’s interactive Festive Glow Guide map has returned, showcasing some of the region’s most eye-catching domestic and commercial Christmas displays.<\/p>\n

Residents across the shire have embraced the festive spirit by decorating their homes and registering their displays online, allowing the community to enjoy an easy-to-navigate location guide.<\/p>\n

Burringbar locals Graham and Glenys Purnell have been lighting up their home for 20 years, with this year’s display featuring nearly 60,000 lights.<\/p>\n

The family has also added a donation box to this year’s display, raising money for the Cancer Council.<\/p>\n

“Over the years, people have often asked us where our donation box was, but we’ve always said the smiles on children’s faces are all the donation we need,” Graham Purnell said.<\/p>\n

“It’s wonderful to be able to share the festive spirit with others and support a cause that means so much to the wider Tweed community.”<\/p>\n

Tweed Shire mayor Chris Cherry said the tradition celebrated community pride and connection.<\/p>\n

“Don’t let your Christmas lights go unseen. So much effort and time go into preparing some of these displays that it is lovely to share the joy you are creating,” Cr Cherry said.<\/p>\n

“By registering your display, you can share the magic with towns and villages across the Tweed.<\/p>\n

“We also encourage everyone to think sustainably. Reuse, share or borrow decorations you already have, and choose solar-powered or LED lights to conserve energy.”<\/p>\n
