LISMORE City Library is tipping out its Lego collection these school holidays, inviting kids to build, imagine and create as part of its summer program.<\/p>\n
The free Lego session will be held on Tuesday, January 20, and is open to children aged six to 12.<\/p>\n
The hands-on activity is part of the library’s broader school holiday program, which has already featured stamp collecting, badge design, and a rock and gem science station.<\/p>\n
Lego usually includes themed kits such as spaceships, castles and vehicles with the classic building bricks, which form minifigures and other parts.<\/p>\n
“We put out everything with some challenge and idea cards on what they can do,” event organiser Eloise Bredenhof said.<\/p>\n
“It’s all aimed at sparking their imagination and building their skills. Lego is a nice, simple activity where they can do as much as they want with it.<\/p>\n
“It’s also a starting point that leads into engineering, construction and STEM activities, and we might bring it back as an after-school program this term.”<\/p>\n
The program continues the library’s renewed role as a community hub after reopening last year following extensive flood restoration works.<\/p>\n
Lismore Area Librarian Michael Lewis said the rebuilt facility had become an important space for residents to reconnect after years of disruption.<\/p>\n
“Reopening the library has been about more than just books on shelves \u2013 it’s about giving the community a space they can feel proud of,” he said.<\/p>\n
“The new elevator has made the building more accessible, the children’s area is buzzing again, and a new public artwork stands as a thank you to people right across Australia who helped us rebuild.”<\/p>\n
The Lego session runs from 2pm-4.30pm with no bookings required.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
