Photo: RZ MEDIA<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Winning a 13-point chef hat for River is a real honour,&#8221; Lee said. &#8220;After leaving Potager and backing myself to build something new, I&#8217;m incredibly proud of what we&#8217;ve created, but this recognition is a reflection of the team.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Lee said the restaurant&#8217;s motto is &#8216;wild at heart, local by nature&#8217;. &#8220;It&#8217;s our promise to cook with the seasons and honour this region,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Winning a chef hat is a massive moment for us, but we&#8217;ll stay focused on what matters \u2013 great food, beautiful local produce and making people feel looked after.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_121444\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-121444\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-121444\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2026\/01\/Potager.PhotoDAVIDCO_78355.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-121444\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Head chef Luis do Carmo, owner John Spedding, restaurant manager Ricky Burchielli and bar manager Sailendra Yadau at Potager. Photo: DAVID COPE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Potager also retained its hat under head chef Luis do Carmo, who is originally from Portugal and has worked in Michelin-starred kitchens in Europe. It is the farm-to-table restaurant&#8217;s sixth consecutive year being honoured by the Guide, also scoring 13 points.<\/p>\n<p>Pipit at Pottsville was the highest-scoring restaurant in the region with 16 points, followed by Raes at Wategos with 15 and Tweed River House and Bistro Livi in Murwillumbah, both with 14.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_121445\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-121445\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-121445\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2026\/01\/ChefBenDevlinatPipit_84308.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-121445\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chef Ben Devlin at Pipit in Pottsville.
