TELSTRA customers in Lennox Head will experience temporary mobile service disruptions this week as upgrade works are carried out at the local base station.<\/p>\n
Customers should have received text messages notifying them of the planned works, which are scheduled to be completed by Saturday, February 14.<\/p>\n
The disruption will only affect Telstra mobile services. Landline services, NBN and satellite internet connections, along with mobile coverage from other providers, will not be impacted.<\/p>\n
Telstra said the works will increase 4G capacity at the site to manage growing demand on the network.<\/p>\n
Regional general manager northern NSW Michael Marom said mobile data use continued to rise across the network.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know how important mobile connectivity is for Australians, whether you\u2019re in the city or the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs data use over our mobile network continues to grow, adding extra 4G capacity to our mobile site in the area will help deliver faster downloads, smoother streaming and less congestion for customers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile disruption is required while the upgrade is underway, we\u2019ll only be switching off the site when we need to and will have it back online and working better than ever as quickly as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
Telstra said any calls to Triple Zero made from a Telstra mobile while the site is offline would automatically connect to another available mobile network to reach emergency services.<\/p>\n
Customers can continue to make calls and send text messages by enabling Wi-Fi Calling during the outage.<\/p>\n
Businesses that rely on mobile EFTPOS terminals may experience interruptions while the upgrade is underway.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
