TWO Murwillumbah artists have launched a monthly workshop series at the M-Arts Precinct aimed at reconnecting locals with their creative side.<\/p>\n

Victoria Spring and Heidi Ledwell have teamed up to present “Sunday Funday”, a session held once a month for beginners and experienced creatives.<\/p>\n

Ledwell will lead a Paint-A-Block workshop focused on composition, colour mixing and design, with participants taking home a small painted piece inspired by a personal memory.<\/p>\n

Spring will host a vintage-inspired jewellery making workshop drawing on more than three decades of experience.<\/p>\n

Ledwell said the M-Arts Precinct provides an important meeting place for artists and the wider community.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“Having a work\/gallery space at M-Arts puts us in direct contact with arts-loving customers,” she said.<\/p>\n

She said many aspiring creatives simply need space and time to get started.<\/p>\n

“Common feedback we hear is that people want to be creative but haven’t got the space or the time to get started, but our workshops can offer both,” she said.<\/p>\n

“We supply the space and the materials for people to explore their creativity.”<\/p>\n

Ledwell said watching participants grow in confidence during the three-hour sessions was one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.<\/p>\n

“It’s a joy to experience a group come in and sit down with hesitation, trepidation and nervousness and to see that slowly slip away as they become comfortable with their materials, their surroundings and the other people in the group,” she said.<\/p>\n

“It’s only three hours, but it could mean the jump start to further creative endeavours.”<\/p>\n

The next Sunday Funday session will be held on March 15 from 10am to 1pm at the M-Arts Precinct.<\/p>\n
