BYRON Shire\u2019s mayor is urging visitors not to cancel their Easter plans following the cancellation of Bluesfest, saying the region still has plenty to offer across the long weekend.<\/p>\n
Bluesfest\u2019s cancellation last week has left many travellers with flights and accommodation already booked, prompting Byron Shire Council to encourage people to continue with their plans.<\/p>\n
Byron Shire mayor Sarah Ndiaye said visitors would still find a lively atmosphere across the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cLots of people already have flights and accommodation booked and we are encouraging people not to cancel and come anyway,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom sunrise swims and lighthouse walks to buskers on the street, bustling markets and music drifting out of our pubs and small venues, Easter in Byron has a rhythm all its own.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhether it\u2019s bushwalking, cultural tours, kayaking, incredible food, hot air balloons at dawn or a massage and spa in the afternoon \u2013 it\u2019s a beautiful time of year to be here and there\u2019s always something happening in and around the Shire.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe rumour mill is already in full swing about artists who might be in the area and looking for an intimate gig \u2013 so who knows what special, one-off artist acts we\u2019re going to be hearing about in the coming days and weeks.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhatever happens, it\u2019s going to make for some homegrown, organic magic in our Shire,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Mayor Ndiaye said Byron Shire\u2019s beaches and outdoor attractions remained a major drawcard.<\/p>\n
\u201cAside from all the music and entertainment, Byron Shire is a delight with gorgeous swimming, surfing, sky diving and snorkelling conditions.<\/p>\n
\u201cBrunch and lunch around our towns, shop, relax and explore everything the Byron Shire has to offer.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re good at dealing with disaster and adversity up here \u2013 we know how to turn things around and make something good come from it.<\/p>\n
