POLICE have confirmed the body of a missing Alstonville woman was located after her vehicle was recovered from water near the Emigrant Creek boat ramp.<\/p>\n
Susan Connors, 59, was last seen travelling along the Old Pacific Highway at Woodburn about 8.40pm on November 14, 2024.<\/p>\n
Officers attached to Richmond Police District had continued investigating her disappearance and renewed public appeals for information in the months that followed.<\/p>\n
A NSW Police spokesperson said specialist units conducted a targeted search earlier this month.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn Sunday, March 1, 2026, Marine Area Command divers and Water Police searched an area near the Emigrant Creek Boat Ramp,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the search, a submerged vehicle was located by police.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe vehicle was removed from the water by crane before being taken to Ballina Police Station where it was forensically examined.<\/p>\n
\u201cA body \u2013 believed to be that of a missing 59 year old woman \u2013 was located in the vehicle.\u201d<\/p>\n
The identity has since been formally confirmed.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Ms Connors\u2019 family said:<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter 15 long months, it is with heavy hearts that we share that our much loved Sue has been found. While we had hoped for a different outcome, we are grateful to finally bring her home.<\/p>\n
\u201cA cherished and beautiful soul, Sue\u2019s life was defined by love, laughter and kindness.\u201d<\/p>\n
A private interment has been held this week.<\/p>\n
