{"id":114238,"date":"2026-04-03T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-02T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballinatimes\/?p=114238"},"modified":"2026-04-02T00:35:52","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T13:35:52","slug":"kids-easter-activities-across-the-northern-rivers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballinatimes\/news\/kids-easter-activities-across-the-northern-rivers\/","title":{"rendered":"Kids&#8217; Easter activities across the Northern Rivers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Families across the Northern Rivers will have a packed Easter long weekend, with events ranging from farm tours to bilby hunts, shopping centre activities and community celebrations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ballina activities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ballina is shaping up as a key destination for families across the long weekend, with a mix of farm-based, shopping centre and club-based activities.<\/p>\n<p>In Alstonville, Aruma&#8217;s Summerland Farm will host a full day of activities on Saturday, combining animal encounters with hands-on experiences for children.<\/p>\n<p>The farm&#8217;s popular Easter Egg Hunt runs in three sessions at 10am, 11.30am and 1pm, with children following clues around the property and collecting macadamias to exchange for chocolate.<\/p>\n<p>The Easter Basket Workshop is another highlight, offering a creative session where children can decorate their own baskets before heading out to explore the grounds.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Easter Basket Workshop is a hands-on session, where each child will receive their own basket to decorate and take home,&#8221; an event spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With a variety of paints, colourful Easter decorations, and plenty of creative supplies, children can design a basket that&#8217;s completely unique to them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Free entry to the adventure playground and water park will also be available, giving families the option to spend the full day on site.<\/p>\n<p>At Ballina Fair Shopping Centre, free entertainment will run throughout the weekend, including egg hunts, face painting and opportunities for photos with the Easter Bunny.<\/p>\n<p>The egg hunt will start and finish in front of TK Maxx, with children moving through the centre collecting treats along the way.<\/p>\n<p>Ballina RSL Club will also host a range of activities, including kids&#8217; meal specials and two sessions of Kids Bingo featuring entertainer Shorty Brown.<\/p>\n<p>At Cherry Street Sports Club, Fitness Kidz will run an Easter party on Sunday, before returning on Monday and Wednesday with a free two-hour activity program designed to keep children active during the school holidays.<\/p>\n<p>The combination of indoor and outdoor options is expected to draw steady crowds across the weekend.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_124052\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-124052\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-124052\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2026\/04\/gabe-pierce-2w46Lv6E_11586.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-124052\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Easter egg hunts will draw families across the Northern Rivers this long weekend, with children invited to follow clues, collect treats and explore venues from Ballina to Byron Bay and beyond. Photos: Supplied<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lismore activities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Lismore, the Easter Bilby Discovery event will run across Goonellabah and the Lismore CBD, encouraging children to explore local shops while searching for hidden bilbies.<\/p>\n<p>Participants who find 10 bilbies can claim a prize, with entry forms and collection points available at Scoops and Candy, Toyworld and Kidsnest.<\/p>\n<p>East Lismore Bowling Club will host a full day of activities on Sunday as part of Easty&#8217;s Easter Day Fun.<\/p>\n<p>Festivities begin at midday and include an egg hunt, bunny hop sack races, egg and spoon relays, egg decorating, and a range of games and prizes.<\/p>\n<p>A free Easter drawing competition will also run from 1pm to 4pm, open to participants of all ages.<\/p>\n<p>Organisers are encouraging families to stay for the afternoon and take part in multiple activities across the day.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_124053\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-124053\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-124053\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2026\/04\/s-b-vonlanthen-q6DYo_58441.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"401\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-124053\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Families across the Northern Rivers will have plenty of Easter activities to choose from across the long weekend, with events running from Ballina to Byron Bay, Lismore and the Tweed. Photo: Supplied.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Byron Bay activities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Byron Bay, a mix of farm-based and wildlife experiences will run across the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The Farm will host a traditional Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, followed by a live<\/p>\n<p>show in the macadamia orchard featuring stockhorses, working dogs, whip cracking and trick riding.<\/p>\n<p>The event combines a classic Easter format with a rural demonstration, offering something different from the usual hunts.<\/p>\n<p>A limited number of tickets will be available at the gate, with early arrival recommended.<\/p>\n<p>The Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary will also host an Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, with new hunts starting every hour.<\/p>\n<p>Children will be able to meet the sanctuary&#8217;s animals through daily rabbit and guinea pig petting sessions, along with hands-on wildlife workshops.<\/p>\n<p>The site also offers a full day experience, including a playground, mini golf, splash park and regular keeper talks.<\/p>\n<p>Food and drink will be available throughout the day, with the caf\u00e9 serving hot cross buns, pancakes and coffee.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-124054\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2026\/04\/jason-jarrach-AMSCC4_61818.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tweed activities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Across the Tweed, a wide range of events will run across the weekend, with activities spread across shopping centres, clubs and holiday parks.<\/p>\n<p>At Tweed City Shopping Centre, children can meet the Easter Bunny on Saturday, while Little Buds Garden Lab will offer<\/p>\n<p>hands-on craft workshops focused on gardening and nature themes.<\/p>\n<p>At Tweed Mall, children can create their own Easter baskets before taking part in a guided hunt through the centre.<\/p>\n<p>Benny&#8217;s Kids Easter Party at Ivory Waterside Marina will run on Sunday, offering a two-hour session of games, activities and entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>Children attending the event will receive a free meal, drink and take-home goodie bag, with parents asked to supervise throughout.<\/p>\n<p>Seagulls Club will host rides, face painting, a jumping castle and a traditional egg hunt, along with opportunities to meet the Easter Bunny and take part in an egg raffle.<\/p>\n<p>Salt Bar will also run a series of activities across the long weekend, while BIG4 Tweed Billabong Holiday Park will host a week of themed events.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday highlights at the park include an Easter party featuring a live DJ, face painting, games with prizes and a visit from the Easter Bunny.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Families across the Northern Rivers will have a packed Easter long weekend, with events ranging from farm tours to bilby hunts, shopping centre activities and community celebrations.
