{"id":115468,"date":"2026-05-23T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-22T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballinatimes\/?p=115468"},"modified":"2026-05-20T20:27:24","modified_gmt":"2026-05-20T10:27:24","slug":"stunning-art-exhibition-reveals-textured-takes-on-local-landscapes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballinatimes\/news\/stunning-art-exhibition-reveals-textured-takes-on-local-landscapes\/","title":{"rendered":"Stunning art exhibition reveals textured takes on local landscapes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BRIGHT, colourful artworks inspired by the landscapes and flowers of the Northern Rivers are on display in the Coherence exhibition at Byron Spaces Gallery until the end of the month.<\/p>\n<p>Local artist Mirabela Varga, a regular at Byron Community Market, is known for her distinctive palette knife technique, which creates bold texture and movement in her work.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My style is contemporary impressionism with a strong focus on texture, movement and emotional depth,&#8221; she said. &#8220;The palette knife encourages intuition and spontaneity, which helps me stay connected to the emotion behind each piece.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Varga said art has long been a way for her to process emotions and connect with others through colour and texture.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Coherence represents alignment between the inner world and outer expression, between feeling and form, and between the artist and the viewer,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_126074\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-126074\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-126074\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2026\/05\/OneoftheworksinMirab_93438.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"277\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-126074\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">One of the works in the Coherence exhibition. Photo: Byron Community Centre<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She said she hopes visitors leave the exhibition feeling something genuine \u2013 whether calmness, inspiration, reflection or emotional connection.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If someone leaves feeling more grounded, uplifted or quietly moved then the exhibition has done what it was meant to do,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Byron Spaces Gallery coordinator Carl Taylor said the space, launched as part of Byron Community Centre&#8217;s 130 Years of Community Spirit celebrations in 2025, gives local artists a place to showcase their work while encouraging the community to discover new seasonal exhibitions.<\/p>\n<p>The Byron Community Centre welcomes applications from local artists interested in holding a free community exhibition at Byron Spaces Gallery.<\/p>\n<p>Coherence is on display at Byron Spaces Gallery in Byron Community Centre until Monday 1 June.
