KINGSCLIFF High School student Archie Allsopp has been chosen to represent the Richmond electorate at the National Youth Parliament 2026 in Canberra.<\/p>\n
A Year 12 school captain at Kingscliff High School, Archie was selected as one of 150 secondary students nationwide to take part in the five-day experience after a competitive process involving 2,200 applications.<\/p>\n
The initiative gives students the opportunity to experience Australia’s parliamentary system firsthand through visits to Parliament House and the Museum of Australian Democracy, alongside simulated debates and policy discussions.<\/p>\n
Relieving principal of Kingscliff High School, Damien Borg said the school was delighted to see Archie recognised.<\/p>\n
“This is a fantastic achievement for Archie and a wonderful opportunity to develop their leadership skills, confidence and understanding of how our democracy works,” Borg said.<\/p>\n
Archie said his interest in politics had grown since becoming school captain in Year 12.<\/p>\n
“One of the things I’m passionate about is improving opportunities for young people in regional parts of Australia, particularly by enhancing access to education, career pathways, and practical courses that can help young people reach their full potential,” he said.<\/p>\n
“I hope this program will provide me with valuable insight into what a future in that area might look like.”<\/p>\n
National Youth Parliament will run from August 16 to 20 in Canberra.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
