Celebrating community connections

Entertainment adds regular delight to residents, including visits from ballroom dancers, the With One Voice choir, musicians, a juggler, and even Mango, the therapy dog.
AT THE Vue and Eden Park Community Aged Care, immense pride is taken in the meaningful connections built across the Geelong region.
These collaborations go beyond activities or visits, they are pathways that bring joy, engagement, and a genuine sense of belonging to residents.
By welcoming the wider community into homes, opportunities are created for companionship, friendship, and moments that truly brighten lives.
“It’s inspiring to witness residents, families, and staff come together, not just to live and work, but to build something truly meaningful. These homes offer more than care, they foster a true sense of belonging,” acting executive general manager of operations, Georgia Tsouras, said.
Volunteers play a vital role in the residents’ community life. At Eden Park, they support activities such as footy tipping, craft, and knitting groups.
One volunteer from Poland even connects with a resident in their native language, a gesture that is deeply appreciated.
At The Vue, one of the most touching examples of connection is the bond between a resident who is legally blind and a dedicated community visitor. United by a shared passion for football cards, their friendship is a reminder that simple common interests can create profound companionship.
The joy this friendship brings highlights the importance of spaces where residents can continue to share their hobbies and interests with others.
Entertainment also adds regular delight, with visits from ballroom dancers, the With One Voice choir, musicians, and even a juggler bringing colour and joy.

Special traditions, such as the Anzac Day ceremony, where a returned soldier resident lays a wreath, offer moments of reflection and pride.
Meanwhile, onsite services, including hairdressing, dentistry, pathology, and “Shopping Direct to You”, ensure convenience and care remain close at hand.
One of the most beloved members of the Eden Park community is Mango, the friendly therapy dog.
Visiting residents fortnightly, Mango brings comfort, laughter, and companionship. Residents eagerly anticipate his arrival, enjoying cuddles, gentle pats, and playful interactions that brighten their day.
Mango’s visits are not only uplifting, but also provide therapeutic benefits, reducing stress and encouraging social interaction.
“At both Eden Park and The Vue, the sense of community is genuinely uplifting. Whether through cultural celebrations or everyday interactions, there’s a strong spirit of connection, warmth, and inclusivity,” Tsouras added.
Together, The Vue and Eden Park Community Aged Care embody the power of community.
More than homes, these are places of connection, joy, and true belonging.
