St Joesph's College Geelong takes a holistic approach to ensure students are given every opportunity to excel.
The college has an inclusive rather than selective enrolment policy and caters for all young men, striving to make a St Joseph’s education accessible for all families with a range of bursaries and support for families who require assistance.
St Joseph’s staff are specialists in educating boys and the College has an emphasis on the pursuit of excellence.
Striving for academic achievement is a strong focus which is promoted through a rich array of programs and technology. Literacy and numeracy are emphasised at all year levels and all courses are designed to challenge students to grow and achieve excellence.
The schools holistic approach ensures students are given every opportunity to excel in a broad range of fields such as the arts, sport, entrepreneurship, technology and innovation.
Students are offered centred learning with a variety of methodologies including project-based learning and explicit teaching.

Students engage in real-world and personally meaningful projects where learning comes alive for them.
St Joesph’s is strongly focused on the wellbeing of all students with age specific programs at each year level and a comprehensive in class wellbeing curriculum.
Year 7 students are supported as they transition to the College into the Waterford sub-school, ensuring that students develop relationships, feel comfortable and become confident in their new learning setting.
Learners of all abilities are supported, including the Ad Alta excellence program, identifying students with particular talents, academic or sporting and enhance these talents as they move through the College.
Students with diverse learning needs are also catered for, through the NIXOR pathway or literacy intervention program.

Year 9 students study at the Westcourt campus in Herne Hill where they are challenged with a rich suite of subjects and a range of electives.
The students participate in the Westcourt project, with a greater focus on skill development and project based learning. Westcourt has a strong focus on preparing students for adult responsibilities and the rigour of senior schooling.
In Year 10, students join the Mt Sion sub-school where they join a vertical homerooms structure, sharing their home room with Year 11 and 12 students from their house group.
Year 10 boys have the opportunity to accelerate their studies with access to a variety of VCE or VET subjects.
At Mt Sion they have a shared timetable with Sacred Heart College with many of the students studying a class at Sacred Heart and many Sacred Heart students taking classes at St Joseph’s.
St Joseph’s has a proud tradition of students achieving outstanding VCE results.
The vocational major (VM), vocational education and training (VET) and school-based apprenticeship (SBAT) programs produce outstanding outcomes for those whose interests and career goals lie in the trades. The Joseph Innovation Trade Training Centre at the Edmund Rice campus allows the college to run many of these courses on-site.
