Apple Fair raises $50,000 for Ocean Grove Primary School
WET conditions didn’t deter the crowds of people who turned out for the Ocean Grove Apple Fair on Sunday,March 16.
The fair is Ocean Grove Primary School’s major fundraiser for the year, with the 2025 event raising $50,000 to replace its ageing playground.
Parent and Apple Fair convener Adele Smith said they were stoked with the turnout and the fundraising outcome.
“We were really pleased to see the community support the fair, given that it was such a horrible day, and we’ve already received some really nice feedback from the community,” she said.

“It was a great day and that’s what keeps us going. For us, the team, that feedback bouncing back from everyone saying ‘Best fair ever, great day, thanks so much’, makes all the hard work worth it.”
Event organisers had an early start to the day, pivoting from their original fair layout to move some of the attractions out of the weather and market stalls undercover.
There was lots on offer across the school yards including a bake sale, live entertainment, silent auction, carnival rides, inflatables and more.
This year’s fair introduced a circular tableware system, where dishes from vendors were able to be washed and re-used.

“It was the first time that we ran it. We’ve learnt some lessons, but it was very well received by the community and most people did the right thing,” Ms Smith said.
“The food trucks were more than happy to accommodate. They used our plates and bowls, we had cups in the bar, and it all went really well. Our dishwashers worked really hard.
“It was all around a great success and we’re really glad that we’ve invested in it and got it all set up to go for next time.”
Ms Smith thanked the community for supporting the school and event with their donations and attendance.
