PLANS to expand an existing supermarket in Barwon Heads and develop apartments will again go before the City of Greater Geelong.
Cowley Holdings Pty Ltd plans for the expansion of Barwon Heads IGA and the development of four dwellings at 3 Bridge Road were approved by the City back in 2017.
The proprietor has since applied to amend the planning permit to modify the approved design to vary the supermarket expansion, licensed area and develop two more apartments, taking the total to six.
Approval is sought to extend the supermarket, change the entry, design, licensed area, signage and parking arrangements.
The estimated cost of the whole development is $10 million.
A report prepared by NovoPlanning on behalf of Cowley Holdings Pty Ltd states that the proposal now seeks to reconfigure the extension to the existing supermarket and include six apartments above the supermarket.
“The development also includes onsite parking for the retail and residential uses,” the report states.
“This application excludes the proposed development of townhouses to the south of the IGA.”
The report states that the “Ground Floor/Basement” will increase supermarket floor area to 457sqm (total area 947sqm), 100sqm Licensed Area (packaged goods), separate entrance to residential apartments and 20 car parking spaces for the supermarket.
The “First Floor” will comprise six, two-bedroom apartments all with a master bedroom with robes, kitchen, meals and open plan living area with access to a private balcony.
The “Second Floor” will comprise Upper level of apartments 3, 4, 5 and 6.
The materials include a mixture of glazing, sandstone tiles, textured concreate panels, colorbond cladding and timber cladding.
The proposal is open for public comment until July 6.
