K ROCK’S NEWEST dynamic duo
K rock Geelong has locked in a familiar voice to accompany drivers on their way home from work, with the radio station welcoming Josh Olek as the newest co-host for its “Departure Lounge” edition.
Joining K rock as a “workday announcer” three years ago, Olek will now take to the microphone alongside fellow host Lee “Stampsy” Stamps from 4pm – 6pm weekdays.
Having worked in the broadcast sector for seven years, Olek was stoked to share his career milestone with the community.
“Stoked to be chatting for longer than 16 seconds at a time every four songs,” Olek said.
“And doubly stoked to get to hang out with a legend in Stampsy every arvo.
“Geelong and the Surf Coast has welcomed me with open arms, and I can’t wait to drive all of these incredible human beings home!”
Lee Stamps said the feeling is mutual.
“It’s a natural progression for us; we already sit next to each other, buy each other coffee and laugh over Facebook memes,” Stampsy said.
“Josh will be the nerd-burger yin to my clumsy yang. I’ll talk cocktails while he explains Nintendo’s latest release. Just hope the studio soundproofing can withstand our laughter.”
James Speed, K rock’s content director, said Olek is the perfect fit for the role.
“Josh will be stepping into what is already a very well-run drive product,” Speed said.
“The show is a fun, entertaining and really local program that engages our audience perfectly. I’m looking forward to hearing Stampsy and Josh on air together; both extremely dedicated radio people who will put 100 percent into creating cut-through radio and big moments.
“K rock 95.5 remains one of a few regional stations with a local breakfast and drive show entertaining our market as they start and end the day.”
Stampsy and Josh’s first show aired on Tuesday (March 12).
