A tale of ADOLESCENCE AND GROWTH

The Potato Shed is presenting the Melbourne Theatre Company’s production of The Violent Outburst that Drew Me To You on Tuesday May 28.

Sixteen-year-old Connor is angry but doesn’t know why.

As he attempts to navigate his way through his pent-up emotions, he begins to feel annoyed at people and things he once liked.

His parents “There’s just one volume: this really loud one where it’s all three of us shouting at each other”; his once-cool uncle, and even his best friend are each getting on his last nerve.

Following a violent outburst, Connor is dropped off in a woodland for one week in a bid to calm him down.

Connor thinks he is alone with his built-up fury, but then a girl named Lotte walks into the woods, and she is just as angry as he is.

“The Violent Outburst that Drew Me To You is a smart, sweet and a fiery tale about two off-kilter kids who, at war with the world and themselves, find a moment’s peace with each other. Tackling the ticking-time bomb that is adolescence, it is a reminder of the impulse within us all to kick and scream at the universe and the equally impatient need to lie in the woods, planning for the future,” a release about the production read.

Written by multi-award winning playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer, the afternoon session of The Violent Outburst that Drew Me To You has sold out.
