A winter feast at Aireys Food Market this Sunday

June 6, 2018 BY

The Aireys Inlet “Foodie” Market offers foodies an opportunity to sample and purchase a huge variety of products direct from the makers and growers.

A celebration of food is in store for locals and visitors to Aireys Inlet over the long weekend, with a special “Foodies” market being held as part of the annual Love

Winter in Aireys festival. The wonderful contribution of food producers from the region will be the feature of the Aireys Inlet Market this Sunday June 11, offering foodies an opportunity to sample and purchase a huge variety of products direct from the makers and growers.

Shoppers can choose from a huge selection of quality food items, ranging from extra virgin olive oil, local honey, garlic, sourdough bread, leaf tea, organic coffee, olives, nuts and muesli, to grass-fed beef and lamb, fruit and veg, cheeses, chilli sauces, jams, preserves, cakes, biscuits, meringues and more.

Those with a hunger ready to feed can enjoy delicious sweet and savoury tarts, rganic popcorn, woodfire pizza, Turkish street food, sweet and savoury French crepes, Tibetan momos or a simple snag from the barbeque.

Homemade cordials, tonic and some choice local wines will ensure no-one goes home thirsty.

Market organiser Libby Stapleton said the Foodie Market was a great opportunity for Surf Coast visitors and locals to sample some of the region’s finest produce and discover products they may not have tried before.

“It’s all about the food this weekend. Our food stallholders make such a wonderful contribution to our market and the community, and we want to celebrate that.

“This is our final market of the season… it’s a great one to get to, so you can stock up on all your favourite items for winter! Big jars of local honey, olive oil and so on, and some quality wine of course.”

Although food stalls are the feature of this Sunday’s market, many of the region’s finest art and craft stalls will also be part of the Aireys Inlet Foodie Market on Sunday, offering everything from carved wooden furniture, designer chairs and retro kitchenware, to handcrafted jewellery, clothing, photographs, paintings, children’s books, leather bags, children’s gear and more.

The market operates from 9am to 1pm at the Aireys Inlet Community Hall on the Great Ocean Road. See social media for details, or the website at aireysinletmarket.com.au.
