Animal Attraction: Get to know your dog as part of share our shores
BARWON COAST is offering free community education workshops on understanding dog behaviour as part of their Share our Shores Program.
The workshops in partnership with Cherished Pets Community Veterinary Care are designed to provide you with understanding of dog body language so you are better equipped and prepared to manage your own dog and your interactions with other dogs in a public setting and at home.
The workshops are open to both dog owners and non-dog owners.
The Share our Shores program promotes the respect, responsibilities and rights that are important in minimising conflict between different beach users.
As the population use of our coastline increases, so too does the amount of dogs using the beach, this increase over time has led to conflict between dogs and other users.
Improved community understanding of dog body language could prevent incidents such as a person being knocked over or a dog attack
Two identical workshops will be held at the Shell Road Pavilion on Saturday April 14 from 2-4pm and Wednesday April 18 from 7-9pm.
Bookings may be made online at trybooking.com/UMNC or email [email protected].
Social research being conducted by Federation University as part of the Share Our Shores Program is also underway until April 15.
You can contribute to this study through filling out the online survey at goo.gl/e6MfVp.
