Barwon Heads Art Group will host an open day next month to help celebrate the Geelong Seniors Festival.

Convenor Dorothy Van Dorp said this was the first time the art group had participated in the event, which is the largest community celebration for seniors in regional Victoria.

On October 4, the Barwon Heads Art Group will host an open day at the Barwon Heads Senior Citizens Centre and is inviting all seniors plus their friends to call in and have a look at what they have been involved in as part of the group, and to share their painting achievements from the past year.

Ms Van Dorp wanted to highlight that the open day wasn’t just for seniors, with pupils from the Barwon Heads Primary School recently dropping in to see the art group in action.

The Barwon Heads Senior Citizens Centre will be open for visitors from noon until 4pm. Entry is free and light refreshments will be available.

The Geelong Seniors Festival is the largest community celebration for seniors in regional Victoria and a major partner of the statewide Victorian Seniors Festival.

As well as being a great opportunity to get out and about for little or no cost, the festival provides a rare insight into what is on in Geelong for the rest of the year, as most of the events are staged by local clubs and interest groups.
