Aussie music legend comes to town

Australian music legend Daryl Braithwaite has hit the road again with his You Won’t Go Home Whistling the Lights Tour.

The ARIA Hall of Fame Inductee has been touring since August and is bringing his show to the Geelong Arts Centre later this month.

Those in the audience will hear some of the musicians’ biggest hits from across his career which spans decades.

Braithwaite got his start in the 1970s as the front man and vocalist for Sherbet, where the band found success across Australia and on an international level.

Songs including Howzat and Summer Love launched their music career and found them in the charts.

In 1988 he stepped out on his own, launching his solo career with his first album Edge which reached number one on the Australian ARIA charts for three weeks.

His follow-up album, Rise, included The Horses, one of his most well-known songs, with the musician invited on stage at a Harry Styles concert last year to perform it in front of 60,000 people.

Braithwaite dropped his new single It’s You last Friday (October 4), marking his first release since 2020, when Love Songs made its way into the charts and was certified gold in Australia, a song originally intended for pop-star Pink.

He also joined a line-up of national and international artists in 2020 for Fire Fight Australia, raising funds for National Bushfire Relief.

Braithwaite will take the stage at the Story House on October 27.
