Austin’s Wine on the Waterfront

THIS weekend, local Bellarine Winery Austin’s Wine and Novotel are joining in on the Tastes of Central Geelong Festival with a Waterfront Long Lunch Feast.

The annual event is taking place as part of the Weekend of Wine in the Waterfront Restaurant during Tastes of Central Geelong, including a lunch by Novotel Geelong paired with four wines from Austin’s Wine.

Co-owner of Austin’s Wine Belinda Austin said the winery is thrilled to be part of the weekend, especially as it is their first official collaboration with Novotel.

“We’re just looking forward having the Geelong businesses coming together and collaborate on things like this and encourage each other’s businesses and promote the region,” Belinda said.

“Novotel are doing a shared lunch style, which is really nice because it’s beautiful food but it’s a much more casual dining option.”

Belinda said at the event the winery will be showing off rarer wines alongside their classics.

“We’re providing four wines; the Curated Riesling, Off Dry, is definitely a highlight as it’s really not readily available and often hard to find. We only sell it at our cellar door and a few locations in Geelong,” she said.

“And it will pair fantastically with the starters… [Novotel] have made these amazing starters, things like pacific rock oyster, with mint and cucumber and lemon and salt, and prosciutto with cherry tomatoes salsa, with caper berries – so really delicious starters to share that go perfectly with the curated Riesling.”

Austin’s Wine will also be pairing their award-winning Chardonnay with the starters.

“The food and wine is going to be fantastic, that’s a no brainer.

“And for me it’s the location. It’s right on the waterfront on a Sunday afternoon with your friends, it’s just a perfect collaboration really.”
