An Award Fit For A King
The Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRA) were held on Saturday at Melbourne Convention Centre, with Tom King taking out a win as Best Sport Presenter (Provincial) – Tom’s fourth win out of the five years he’s been nominated.
“It’s quite humbling to receive the award. It’s voted on by industry professionals with a great knowledge of our work, so it’s great to be recognised for what I do,” Tom said.
“We (the K rock sports team) are big fans of football and are passionate about the sport and we hope this shines through in what we present.
“I love being part of the K rock team and feel very privileged to be able to what I do with a great group of people.
“I’m most proud of the consistency I’ve shown over the years having won four out of the five years nominated. It’s all up to the ear though, one year they could love it and the next not so much.”
The entire K rock team were all finalists in provincial categories including Best On Air Team, Best Entertainment/Music Presenter, Best Sports Event Coverage, Best Show Producer Entertainment/Music, Best Program Director, Best Promotions Director and Best Multimedia Execution for The Wedding for Marriage Equality.
Eight nominations for K rock Geelong is a huge achievement, with some finalists receiving back to back nominations.
Recently appointed content director James Speed said: “It’s great to join a team with such passion about what they do; they embrace every opportunity thrown at them and look for ways to make noise for our brand every single day.”
